Mr. Lee, instructor of the Faculty of Craft, will deliver this class from easy to deep, students will learn different techniques of carpentry, and handmade all-tenon wood stools, storage boxes, toilet paper boxes and treasure chests. All finished wood products will be donated to those in need! In the first class, students were already listening attentively to Sir Li’s explanation of the basic concepts of woodworking. We really looking forward to seeing the students’ works!
Tony from Chipgoodguy Studio will teach students a comprehensive range of different woodworking skills, including planing, chiseling, sawing, hammering, drilling, marking, etc. Students will also use the skills they learned to make paper airplane launchers and tissue boxes, which will be donated to social welfare organizations to help those in need!
The students of Wood Workshop for Youth Class B have successfully "graduated"! After careful guidance from the instructor, the students have mastered the basic skills of carpentry. They also used teamwork at the end of the class to do the final steps of screwing and polishing the treasure box together. These 12 treasure boxes and other wooden products will be delivered to those in need. From learning, making to donating, the whole process is so loving!
During the two-month course, they made Luban locks, tissue boxes, and multi-functional treasure chests, which will later be given out to Christian Action, Methodist Church Aldrich Bay Integrated Children & Youth Services, and Hong Kong Christian Service!
The Wooden One-string Guitar Workshop on 20/8 has been successfully completed. Our tutor Norman (stemhomehk.wixsite.com) teaches everyone to use recycled wooden bed boards, combined with tin cans such as moon cake tins, cookie boxes, to creating an environmentally friendly one-string guitar that looks good and can be played. It turns out that besides guitars, there are many musical instruments that can be made from environmentally friendly materials. Norman played a piece of music impromptu with the shepherd's flute made from discarded water pipes, everyone finds it amazing! In the end, everyone formed an environmental protection band on the spot, played "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" with the One-string Guitar made by themselves.
